Life in Israel
In other countries, children go to school, people go to work, teens go out after school for coffee, and families come together for mealtime when they get the chance. Life isn't very different for the people of Israel except Shabbat. On Shabbat, activity ceases like bus transportation and taxi's. Shabbat is on Saturday, the Israeli day of rest, but even on this day, the threat of violence is just around the corner.
Streets have what look like pot holes in them, but they are caused by bombs. Hamas is constantly sending bombs into Israel and there is no end in sight. Imagine being a child having to experience this on a daily basis all the while trying to go to school, play with their friends, be with their families, and survive. It becomes harder when children do not have enough to eat, a safe place to play, and a way to enjoy their holidays and this is where Support Israel comes in.
Israel just celebrated Purim and Support Israel donated to families and individuals to help those less fortunate with gift baskets. Purim is a holiday celebrated on the 14th or 15th day of the Jewish month Adar, which is in the late winter/early spring. Israel celebrates the defeat of Haman and his plot to massacre the Jews, as written about in the book of Esther. Esther was a young Jewish girl who became the Queen to King Ahasuerus, after finding favor in the king's eye.
Support Israel needs your help with your donation to feed Israel's poor, have youth activities, provide Jewish holiday meals, and support Holocaust survivors. Your donation goes to supporting the population directly, and your dollar counts. Support Israel is a non-profit organization so you know where your donation is going for and
